Position Summary: 
Crinetics is seeking an experienced, effective and respected Chief of Staff to manage the office of the Chief Development Officer, help ensure effectiveness of the Development team, and support effectiveness of the R&D Committee, Protocol Review Committee, and Executive Safety Review Board, as the company continues its high growth trajectory to an increasingly complex global organization. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, they will be a central figure to help organize, facilitate, and effectuate the responsibilities of the Chief Development Officer.   A key deliverable in this role is to provide organizational support to the Chief Development Officer and executive team in order to facilitate and ensure their effectiveness as leaders of an increasingly complex global organization. 
 
This role is located in San Diego requiring you to be onsite ~3 days/week.  Local candidates preferred.  Relocation is offered. 
 
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
  • Organize efforts across the organization as needed to provide Chief Development Officer with timely and reliable information to support Chief Development Officer and decision making, planning and communications.
  • Ensure integration of corporate dashboards and help monitor performance of organization as a whole.
  • Track and manage tasks delegated by Chief Development Officer to staff across the organization to ensure timely completion.
  • Preparation of materials for communications with the organization, including meeting materials and regular updates.
  • Assist Chief Development Officer in developing and communicating overarching corporate strategy and its components internally and externally.
  • Assist Chief Development Officer in developing corporate goals and ensuring alignment of cascading goals across the business.
  • Monitor and analysis of resource and capital allocation across the department to align with company strategy.
  • Identify potential operating efficiencies and help drive company to solutions.
  • Special projects to support Chief Development Officer decision making, often requiring inputs from multiple branches of the organization, including analysis of operating efficiencies.
  • Project management of Chief Development Officer deliverables, commitments, and time.
  • Work with EA to manage Chief Development Officer calendar and travel commitments.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
Education and Experience: 
Required: 
  • PhD, MD, PharmD, MPH or other advanced scientific degree.
  • 13+ years operating experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Many different types of career paths could provide appropriate perspective, including business consulting. Broad exposure across the biotechnology enterprise is important. Significant experience in a growing biotech environment is critical.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with executive leadership and boards of directors.
  • Experience with and ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.
  • Experience gathering and integrating inputs from all disciplines in the company to facilitate assessments, planning and strategy by the Chief Development Officer, executive team and Board of Directors. Able to help bring these inputs up to an appropriately high level to facilitate effective high-level communications, analysis and decision making.
  • Strong holistic approach to working with and managing groups of high-performance individuals. Able to pull the best from teams while at the same time being able to contribute and help synthesize.
  • High EQ with ability to earn the respect and trust of the Chief Development Officer, leadership and board.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply. 
 
Travel: 
You may be required to travel for up to 15% of your time, and the ability to travel globally as needed. 
 
The Anticipated Base Salary Range:  $173,00 – $230,000 
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
