Director, Research & Insights

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Research and Insights, will plan, develop & execute market research initiatives, including primary & secondary market research, data analytics and insights generation in alignment with the near-term and longer-term business operating plan. The incumbent will partner cross-functionally with program management and corporate strategy to ensure data-driven insights for pipeline programs, global geographic opportunities, and go-to-market strategies.
 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, lead and execute the primary & secondary market research with cross-functional enterprise-wide partners, including commercial, medical, regulatory, and legal
  • Liaise with cross functional partners to understand key business needs across therapeutic targets, product development stages, lifecycle management, and portfolio strategy. Align the organization on the scope, timing and objectives of various research initiatives
  • Design and manage the research calendar for Crinetics. to drive key business decision making
  • Oversee variety of project types including, but not limited to, epidemiology, treatment flow, qualitative or quantitative demand/market share, segmentation, positioning/messaging, future treatment paradigms, etc.
  • Drive the brand planning process, in coordination with the marketing team, including informing situation analysis, competitive landscape, and strategic priorities.
  • Plan and execute research and analyses to support the forecasting related needs of the organization
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations to leadership teams, cross functional teams within the organization to drive strategic and tactical decision making
  • Actively manage budgets and identify efficiencies within the research plan to achieve ‘more with less’
  • Track and monitor key performance indicators for commercial tactics
 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, or related field.  A Master’s degree (MBA) strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience working in marketing within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Experience managing promotions and market research vendors
  • Experience in pharmaceutical situation analysis and brand planning
  • Ability to consolidate and present key findings to relevant parties
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative market research across multiple customer groups, including but not limited to physicians, patients, allied health care professionals, pharmacists, and advocacy groups
  • Experience in generating commercial insights from standard and non-standard pharmaceutical data sets
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, distill information to essential knowledge, develop business- relevant strategic recommendations, and persuasively present to a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous situations and determine focused objectives and a clear path forward in the face of open questions.
  • Balance of exceptional technical expertise with strong strategic thinking and practical business orientation; strength in finding and focusing on key business drivers
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to multiple manage projects and timelines for both internal initiatives and external vendors
 
 
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Equipment:   PC, scanners, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. 
 
Software Knowledge:  Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
 
 
EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physical Activities:  On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. TRAVEL:
Travel may be required up to 5% of your time.
 
 
The Anticipated Base Salary Range: $150,000.00 – $198,000.00
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
