POSITION SUMMARY:
Crinetics is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Scientist with experience in GPCR mechanistic pharmacology to join our growing and dynamic Biology team. The successful candidate will be an integral member of multidisciplinary teams working on unmet needs in endocrine related diseases and striving to make a real difference in the lives of patients. Their primary role will be lab based, providing in vitro pharmacology data that supports lead optimization campaigns, mechanism of action studies, and new target efforts in an environment that values scientific integrity and quality, and fosters learning, open communication, collaboration, and teamwork.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These may include but are not limited to:
  • Conceive, develop, and execute methods exploring GPCR pharmacology, mechanism, and signaling
  • Critically analyze and interpret data into meaningful understanding of small molecule SAR and compound selection
  • Translate and effectively communicate results to multidisciplinary colleagues and contribute to team discussions 
  • Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and pertinent new technologies and adapt concepts from the literature to bench research

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalented education and experience in laboratory experience
  • Experience in drug discovery and small molecule GPCR pharmacology is preferred
  • Extensive and in-depth technical proficiency in biochemical, cell-based functional, and radioligand binding assay systems and demonstrated ability to ensure high quality data
  • Outstanding experimental design, problem-solving, and data analysis skills and the ability to independently establish in vitro pharmacologic approaches to achieve program goals
  • Familiarity with current scientific literature and pertinent new technologies and the ability to adapt concepts from literature to bench research to support ongoing studies.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and advance various projects simultaneously without compromising data quality or reproducibility
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a cross functional team and matrix environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, organizational and interpersonal skills to ensure operational excellence of daily laboratory needs and timely execution of shared team deliverables
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Equipment: PC, scanners, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained.  Knowledge of other equipment required: standard biology lab equipment (microplate readers, laboratory automation, etc.)
 
Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), GraphPad Prism or equivalent statistical and graphing software.
 
EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities, if applicable: Biology, chemical laboratory and tissue culture environments experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.
 
TRAVEL:
Travel may be required up to 10% of your time.
 
The Anticipated Base Salary Range: $85,000.00 – $120,000.00

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
