Position Summary:
 
The Senior Director of Communications will oversee and manage communications involving the organization including the development and implementation of a communications strategy and a broad and diverse range of business and marketing communications.  The role will report to the Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications.   This is a high-impact, collaborative and visible role.
 
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop the corporate mission statement.
  • Develops and implements a communications strategy for the company that builds and maintains a positive corporate brand.
  • Oversees corporate communications and branding in various online and print platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and industry magazines.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of the corporate website including methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current and relevant.
  • Provides consistent and timely information to employees through various communications programs.
  • Acts as corporate spokesperson and responds to members of the media in a timely manner; composes and distributes press releases as needed.
  • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with various members of the media.
  • Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages.
  • Provides suggestions concerning graphics, clarity, distribution, and press releases to Finance and Accounting departments for preparation of the financial releases, the company’s annual report, as well as other corporate news events.
  • Develops, implements, and adheres to communications budget.
  • Develops, composes, distributes, and implements policies to enhance the efficiency of the communications department and to further develop the building and maintaining of a positive corporate brand.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Education and Experience:
Required:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in public relations, and comprehensive marketing experience required with 8 years of leadership experience.
  • Pharmaceuticals or biotech experience required; prior experience in drug development activities in biopharma or healthcare industry, including commercial operations in the U.S. and worldwide markets, is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and networking skills with a variety of personalities and positions.
  • Superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate and external publications.
  • Ability to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership.
  • Excellent managerial and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work with corporate management, employees, media, and the larger community.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts of various teams in order to present a coherent message.
  • Well-organized and strong attention to detail and driven to do things right.
  • Self-accountability and an internal desire to perform at a high level; constantly striving to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results.
  • Ability to work remote-first in a rapidly scaling organization.
 
 
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.
 
 
TRAVEL:
 
Travel may be required up to 20% of your time.
 
The Anticipated Base Salary Range: 206,779-240,000
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
