Associate Director, New Product Planning (San Diego, CA)

Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is seeking an exceptional candidate to drive our New Product Planning efforts. This position will play a key role in helping build the new product planning, competitive intelligence, and business insights function. This position reports to the VP of corporate strategy and commercial planning and is an opportunity to contribute significantly to a rapidly growing company poised to engage in significant opportunities over the coming months. The role is focused on working with and collaborating with a broad cross-functional group of stakeholders including but not limited to Discovery, Development, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, IR, Commercial, and Corporate Development. The candidate will contribute to the long-term commercial success of the portfolio and is responsible for providing commercial assessments of key clinical-stage assets, market research activities, competitive intelligence and preferred product profile. This position will be based at Crinetics headquarters in San Diego, CA.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

These may include but are not limited to:
Conduct primary and secondary market research to understand disease epidemiology, market environment, patient segmentation, patient journey, key competitors’ strategy and activities, and customers’ needs
Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to establish Target Product Profiles and determine early product positioning
Develop revenue forecasts for pipeline assets
Provide analytical support to assess and prioritize pipeline programs as part of the Long-Range Planning process
Utilize systematic processes to gather and summarize competitive information that is relevant to the needs of the business
Update databases on competitor pipeline products and estimated potential launch timing
Identify, analyze, and translate relevant clinical and landscape data, as well as competitive intelligence, to inform the development of asset strategies and BD opportunities
Provide strategic direction on market research objectives and designs as well as other innovative approaches to inform brand launch strategies
Work closely with Leadership and Finance to ensure appropriate resources and organizational alignment are available to capitalize on short-term and long-term business opportunities

Bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of seven years’ experience with marketing science concentration preferred: an advanced degree in medicine or life sciences a plus.
A minimum of three years’ experience in new product planning/clinical/medical strategic roles within pharmaceutical industry or life sciences
Must have early development stage experience
Experience in forecasting assumptions with marketing
Background in marketing and marketing analytics with a working knowledge of secondary data, mining secondary data sets and applying learnings to strategy development
Experience in forecasting and the appropriate forecasting model to leverage across different launch scenarios and markets
Proficient in primary/secondary market research
Excellent communication skills and strong analytical skills required to understand scientific and financial data, recognize key business issues, and prepare high-level presentations for senior executive staff review
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize work with a sense of urgency
Advanced understanding of CI processes, methods, industry ethics and compliance, is required
Ability to collaboratively work in a small company environment and contribute to many different functions


Travel may be required up to 20% of your time
