Meet Alejandro

Tell us about yourself, your position, background, motivations.

Originally from Asuncion, Paraguay, I pursued my medical education in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. I found myself drawn to the field of physiology in the early years of medical school. The fascination with the transformative effects of hormones (“transforming without cutting”), their ubiquitousness and preciseness of feedback loop regulation led me to further specialize in endocrinology. I managed to make many friends over the years while training and practicing in Sao Paulo (Brazil), the D.C metro area, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and the Miller School of Medicine of the University of Miami in Florida where I had spent 16 years as faculty before joining Crinetics as a Clinical Director 18 months ago. I have a particular interest in understanding the neurohormonal adaptations that regulate the response to acute and chronic stress as well as disorders of the pituitary and adrenal glands.

What about Crinetics makes you the most excited to work here?

My biggest joy is to be able to work in an environment where I get to interact with knowledgeable, hardworking, and kind colleagues of diverse professional and personal backgrounds while advancing knowledge to help patients and their families.

What is your advice on people hoping to join crinetics?

Join the passion and enjoy the ride. Be flexible, and do not be afraid of asking questions (any question).
