Position Summary:
The Director of Data Management and Analytics will lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of data management and analytics initiatives to support the organization’s goals. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of the company’s data assets, as well as leveraging data analytics to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions.  This role will work closely with the IT Business partners supporting R&D, G&A, and Commercial as well as directly with business functions to align data analytics and reporting processes and technology across the organization.
 
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data management strategy that aligns with the organization’s objectives.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Support department data analytics functions in analyzing complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to integrate data management and analytics into overall IT and business strategies.
  • Manage the selection and implementation of data management and analytics tools and platforms to support effective data analysis and reporting.
  • Partner closely with Business Stakeholders, IT Business Partners, and IT Operations to ensure proper configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of any necessary core infrastructure (cloud or hosted) and associated services necessary for data management platforms.
  • Manage vendor partnerships and service providers to ensure proper configuration, build, maintenance and ongoing support and maintenance of delivered tools and platforms.
  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of data management and analytics initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to the data management and analytics team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Support the implementation of data & analytics capabilities needed to transform R&D, Commercial, and G&A functions, including- CRM & Sales effectiveness, Marketing and Omni channel promotion, Market Access, Patient Services, Supply Chain Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Clinical Development, Project Management, and Discovery.
  • Engage/facilitate business process and data enablement discussions with stakeholders from Commercial Operations, Field Sales Effectiveness, Brand Marketing, Order Management, Supply & Demand Planning, Clinical Trial Management, etc.
  •  Oversee data architecture and implement/integrate D&A platforms, within the Crinetics ecosystem, such as ERP (NetSuite); CRM (Veeva); Contracts & Pricing, MDM (Master Data Management); Data warehousing and Reporting (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Architect and design data implementation patterns and engineered solutions using native cloud capabilities that span data ingestion & integration (ingress and egress), data storage (raw & cleansed), data prep & processing, master & reference data management, data virtualization & semantic layer, data consumption & visualization.
  • Support department data warehouse instances and leads in creation of cloud data warehouse plans, roadmap, success metrics.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in data management and analytics.
  • Participate in industry conferences and workshops to represent the organization and gather insights.
  • Contribute to the IT service catalog by defining and documenting IT services related to data management and analytics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience in Life Science, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Proven experience in data management and analytics, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data modeling principles.
  • Expertise in data analytics tools and techniques, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Understand cloud data solutions in the context of business applications, cost optimization, business strategic needs and future growth goals as it relates to becoming a data driven’ organization.
  • Understand and familiarity with CI/CD Cloud DevOps.
  • Understand and experience with modern cloud data warehouse and engineering for one or more of the following cloud providers – Azure (Fabric, ADF, Synapse, Power BI), Azure Databricks, Snowflake, Tableau.
  • Understand how advanced analytics solutions, AI/ML models, and operationalize based on ML Ops process are leveraged and delivered in the pharma/life sciences industry.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.
 
Travel:
You may be required to travel for up to 5% of your time.

The Anticipated Base Salary Range:  $160,000 – $200,000
In addition to your base pay, our total rewards program consists of a discretionary annual target bonus, stock options, ESPP, and 401k match. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience and education. Crinetics Pharmaceuticals is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
