Position Summary:
This is a part time, student position with the ability to work from 15-40 hours per week onsite in San Diego, CA. We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join the Biology team with a one year commitment to the program. This is a fantastic learning opportunity in a small company environment where you will be surrounded by experienced and committed mentors.  
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  
These may include but are not limited to:  
  • Cell biology: mammalian cell culture and transfections
  • Molecular biology: RNA and protein isolation, real-time RT-PCR, western blot, and plasmid DNA cloning
 
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student studying Biology, Biochemistry, or related field. 
  • Completed coursework in molecular biology and at least one molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory course required.
  • An individual who is committed to a career in research, flexible, hardworking, and eager to learn.
  • Students in their sophomore, junior, or starting their senior year are preferred. Must be in San Diego, CA as the position is onsite. No relocation offered.  
 
Technical Knowledge Required: 
Software Knowledge:  Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment: 
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job. Laboratory Activities (if applicable): Biology laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

Pay Rate: $23/hour.
